  • Full Time, Maximum Term contract until 31 December 2023
  • CSD Level 3 from $74,253 - $79,890 pa dependent on skills and experience
  • Location: Western Sydney (Penrith/Seven Hills)

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer will be part of a small team that works within an integrated service delivery model to provide health, housing, rehabilitation and support services to people who are at risk of homelessness in the Penrith and Blacktown Local Government Area. The ALO will not only work with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander clients but also non-Aboriginal clients working under an assertive outreach model aimed at providing integrated services that focus on sustainable long-term accommodation, prevention of re-offending and improved health outcomes.

Core Duties

  • Engage all clients and develop trusting and professional relationships, with a focus on clients who identify as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander
  • Assist clients to connect with appropriate services to gain support around physical/mental health needs
  • Work with individual strengths, identify goals and support them to work towards their goals
  • Work with partners, such as Community Corrections, Probation and Parole, Department of Communities and Justice and the client to ensure clients are meeting all obligations
  • Assist clients in attaining appropriate Centrelink benefits and make referrals for employment programs (WorkWell) if required

Mandatory requirements

  • Previous experience in working with AOD and complex behaviours
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check - disclosable outcomes considered
  • Neami National will require, as part of our condition of employment, that all candidates applying for any position must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (or have received one dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine and have a scheduled appointment to receive their second dose.)
