About the role

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position
  • Full Time, Maximum Term contract until 30 June 2021
  • CSD Level 3 from $73,434 - $79,010 pa (pro rata) + salary packaging

The Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer will provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people experiencing homelessness who are sleeping on the street or who are at risk of losing their tenancy once housed. Your connection with the Aboriginal community in the Inner City of Sydney and the wider Aboriginal community along with your strong understanding of why people become homeless will be valuable in this role with Neami Way2Home.

Core duties

  • Street outreach, engaging with people sleeping rough, to help them into safe housing
  • Develop trusting and professional relationships with people who are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
  • Assist consumers to engage in their community whilst supporting them to develop living skills
  • Work with individual strengths, identify goals and support them to work towards their goals
  • Participate fully as a team member, working within best practice and Workplace Health and Safety policy
  • Working with community services and programs to support people to exit homelessness and maintain their tenancy and connect to their community

Mandatory requirements:

  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Australian Working Rights
  • Drivers licence
  • Police check (refer to PD) – disclosable outcomes considered
