Natural Hazards Research Australia is being established as a world-leading research centre for natural hazard resilience and disaster risk reduction. It will be one of Australia’s largest repositories of research data, products and applications aimed at mitigating the impacts of natural hazards and disasters caused by natural hazards. It will build on current research into bushfires and other natural hazards including the work of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre and its predecessor, the Bushfire CRC.

A great opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Research Services Project Officer to join the Centre’s research team to support the team as they guide the development of the Centre’s research program and the translation of the Centre’s research outcomes into practical solutions that can save lives and improve public safety in the face of the threats from natural hazards. The position reports to the Research Services Team Leader and will be responsible for:

• Supporting research and research utilisation activities
• Contributing to partnership development projects
• Participating in stakeholder engagement

• Providing project and administrative support for Centre activities

This is a great opportunity for someone with tertiary qualifications relevant to natural hazards, emergency management or disaster resilience who wants to work in a research environment that is helping to improve public safety in Australia. You will be highly organised, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be flexible and adaptable with a high attention to detail and capacity to meet deadlines and deliver quality outcomes.

The positions will be located in one of the Centre’s nodes in either Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
