NAAFLS provides professional, comprehensive and culturally safe assistance and advice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in remote Top End communities, and in particular, those who have been exposed to domestic and family violence and sexual assault.

We are currently looking for a Client Support Officer for our Darwin or Katherine Office. The CSO is responsible for delivering quality Client/Solicitor support services, including:

• Providing a high level of culturally appropriate non-legal support and information to NAAFLS’ clients in Top End remote Aboriginal Communities including referral services, applications, appointments, etc.
• Maintaining accurate support files and timely data entry using NAAFLS’ electronic file management and statistical information systems.
• Maintaining communication with clients, relevant stakeholders and agencies associated with NAAFLS service delivery areas.

The successful application will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and enjoy working in a challenging work environment. They will have an excellent understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and an understanding of the barriers in service delivery for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living on remote NT communities. Availability to undertake overnight travel to remote communities, up to 2 trips per month of up to 4 days per trip is essential.

This position is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and is intended to constitute a special measure under section 8 (1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth), and section 57 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1996 (NT).

Please note:
It is a requirement that prior to commencing in this role, you must possess an Ochre Card (Working with Children Clearance), a National Criminal History Check (within 3 months) and a current Northern Territory driver’s licence.
