Myeloma Australia is the only Australian myeloma specific not-for-profit organisation. We support, educate, inform, empower and bring hope to people who are living with myeloma, and their loved ones. We also facilitate myeloma research in Australia; educate health professionals involved in the care and treatment of those living with myeloma; raise community awareness and understanding of myeloma; and advocate for improved patient access to the latest treatments at affordable prices.

Our purpose is to:

  • Enable those affected by myeloma to take control of their situation and work in partnership with their health professionals;
  • Support specialist clinicians and researchers and raise funds for myeloma research
  • raise awareness and understanding of the condition among health professionals and the wider community; and
  • Create opportunities for fellowship within the myeloma community

About the role

The purpose of this newly created role is to:

  • Raise the profile of Myeloma Australia’s activities and impact;
  • Engage stakeholders and supporters through creative and effective communication channels;
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to maximise brand awareness and support fundraising and advocacy; and
  • Support Community Engagement, Fundraising and Major Gifts teams in their activities.

Key accountabilities

The key accountabilities of the role include:

1. Marketing

  • Content creation (written, infographic, photo, video) for use across all marketing platforms
  • Social media co-ordination- content creation and growth,
  • Media relations - preparation of media releases and contact lists
  • Website and blog - reviewing website, writing content and implementing website updates and edits
  • Newsletters and publications - identifying improvement and brand alignment opportunities
  • Brand style guidelines - implementing style guidelines ensuring all external communication have a consistent brand voice and representation
  • Developing and implementing marketing and communications strategies -

2. Events

  • Events marketing collateral - co-ordinating the production of marketing collateral required for fundraising events
  • Events co-ordination - of fundraising and donor appreciation events
  • Events implementation - involvement in hands-on delivery of events

3. Fundraising support

  • Direct giving campaigns - drafting of bi-annual direct giving campaigns
  • Interface with donors - engaging with donors
  • Database - producing fundraising reports from the database as required and flagging potential donors
  • General support to fundraising teams as requested
  • Fundraising initiatives - driving promotion of key fundraising initiatives via all marketing channels

4. Administration

  • Produce an annual work plan based on the organisation's strategic plan
  • Produce monthly reports on activities and impact of the role

Essential skills and experience

  • Degree in Business/Marketing/Communications;
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role within the NFP or healthcare sector;
  • Experience co-ordinating social media sites with demonstrable growth and increased community engagement;
  • Experience in impact-focused content creation, with demonstrable examples across written, infographic and video content;
  • Experience in producing and implementing marketing/communications strategies and plans;
  • Experience in managing or co-ordinating events;
  • Confidence using databases, Office 365, marketing programs such as Mailchimp, Wordpress, Canva, Adobe & Illustrator;
  • Organised and being able to work independently whilst juggling multiple priorities; and
  • Excellent teamwork skills.

The successful candidate will be required to satisfactorily complete a police background, reference and probity checks.
