About the role

Lead a team of Disability Support Workers, to achieve agreed quality and service outcomes, aimed at supporting and assisting persons with a disability in their living and community environment. The Service Leader will ensure service delivery is reflective of customer needs, and aligned to outcomes for the individual and the organisation and provide experience with complex behavior support.

  • Have a passion for supporting  customers who have a disability, particularly those with complex behaviours
  • Strong relationship management and ability to work as part of a wider team
  • Experienced in coordinating and administrating the delivery of dynamic services
  • Previous experience in leading a diverse team and shaping a culture which is high performing and customer focused
  • Thrive in a busy environment and be able to communicate clearly in emergent situations
  • Have a sense of urgency and self-drive 
  • Display an empathic nature, demonstrating the passion and dedication to ensure optimal service delivery

Role requirements

  • Knowledge and experience within the disability industry
  • Experience with complex behavior support and mental health diagnosis (essential requirement)
  • Coordinating and administrating the delivery of dynamic services
  • Knowledge and capacity to apply WHS principles in the workplace
  • Provide support to the Service Manager for the region
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft office suite
  • Knowledge of NDIS desirable

Mandatory Requirements

  • Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support OR Experience within the industry (eg. disability, mental health, aged care, individual support, community services or youth work etc.)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a leadership role within disability services
  • Knowledge of restrictive practice, dual diagnosis and complex medical needs
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a positive notice from Disability Services (Yellow Card) and a Working with Children Check (Blue card)
  • Nationally accredited CPR and Senior First Aid certificated
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (completed here: https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au)
  • Driver’s license
  • Excellent communication, fluent in English and very good writing skills
  • Right to work in Australia
