about the role

Multicap is seeking a passionate and energetic Media and Communications Specialist to take ownership of Multicap’s media activities and opportunities, to grow the brand and position Multicap as a leader in disability support services.

You will be joining a highly creative, supportive and driven Marketing and Communications team working across a wide range of projects and areas. This full time, permanent role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a new challenge within the rewarding and exciting not-for-profit community services sector.

As our Media and Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Be the primary contact for media enquiries, including monitoring and proactively identifying media and public relations opportunities to tell Multicap’s story. Support the Communications Manager with delivering external and internal communications for a variety of audiences across a number of platforms.
  • Engage with Multicap customers and staff to share stories which bring our brand to life.
  • Collaborate with industry experts and develop influential content to make a positive impact in the community.
  • Be part of a community-minded, customer-centred and purpose-driven organisation which champions possibility and opportunity.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in external communications, journalism, media/public relations, social media management or related role.
  • Degree level tertiary qualification in Journalism or Communications.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering quality outcomes in journalism and media relations, and general external and internal communications.
  • Knowledge and skills in developing and delivering effective public relations campaigns and strategies, and fostering positive working relationships with the media and stakeholders.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including expertise in proofreading and editing.

Salary packaging benefits

Working for a not-for-profit organisation, you will be able to access salary packaging including $15,900 packaging limit per FBT year (1 April- 31 March) and $2,550 per year for meals and entertainment expenses. This will increase your take home pay potentially by $6,000 on top of your base salary.

Mandatory requirements

The successful applicant will be required to obtain a positive notice from Disability Services (Yellow Card), Working with Children Check (Blue card) and National Criminal History check. You must also have NDIS Worker Orientation certificate completed, please login to https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/ if you haven't obtained the certificate already.
