MSWA provides vital support and services to people living with all neurological conditions in Western Australia. This includes people living with multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, motor neurone disease and acquired brain injury.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be working part-time at various office locations within the Perth Metro area. You will join a large, supportive, and dedicated team of Registered Nurses, striving to provide support and nursing services e.g. medication management and education for all our customers.

The responsibilities of the Neurological Liaison Nurse will include:

  • Completion of nursing assessments
  • Referrals to appropriate health professionals
  • Compensatory strategy recommendations
  • Collaboration with multiple disciplinary teams
  • Providing support and education to customers specific to their needs
  • Initiation and review of care plans
  • Clinical Support as necessary (e.g. catheter changes and wound care)

The service provided by the Neurological Liaison Nurse focuses on providing appropriate support for our customers living with a neurological condition. This role is well suited to individuals who enjoy nursing within a community, non-urgent setting. You will work closely with your customers, family members and relevant health/support professionals to achieve optimal outcomes.

Essential

  • Must have current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence

Desirable

  • Experience in community nursing or residential aged care
  • Experience in clinical neurology would be advantageous
  • Catheter Care Management
  • A basic understanding of the NDIS
