Do you want to make a difference in the field of sexual and reproductive health? We have opportunities for enthusiastic nurses to either join our day surgical centres in Melbourne or our telehealth service in either a full time or part time role.

We are an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to ensuring sexual and reproductive health services are equally accessible to all people living in Australia. Marie Stopes Australia is the only national accredited provider of abortion, contraception and vasectomy services, and the country’s longest running provider of teleabortion. Our holistic, client-centred approach empowers individuals to control their reproductive health safely, and with dignity, regardless of their circumstances. Through active partnerships with healthcare providers, researchers and communities, our models of care ensure the total wellbeing of our clients is supported at every stage.

Your purpose:

  • You wish to be the best and do the best in your nursing career
  • Provide empathetic, safe and high-quality nursing care in a perioperative environment
  • Assist in Emergency Care throughout the clinic
  • Apply Universal Infection Control principles
  • Safe Medication Administration
  • Provide Clinical Risk Assessment
  • Liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Support our Quality & Safety program by participating in all clinical quality initiatives and projects
  • Ability to think outside the square with critical and applied learnings

Our Need:

  • Registered Nurse Div 1 with AHPRA registration
  • Acute medical surgical experience
  • Non-judgemental attitude
  • A Pro-choice advocate
  • Refined assessment skills
  • Previous experience working within theatre/recovery
  • Active and reflective listening skills with an understanding of how to provide empathetic care
  • Knowledge of National Accreditation Standards
  • A strong patient centred care advocate
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Exceptional empathy and personal care skills
  • A passionate professional who is wanting to challenge their practice and learnings to develop their career

What we'd like to see (but aren't essential):

  • Perioperative experience
  • Family Planning Certificate or Midwifery qualification
  • Phlebotomy competency
  • Maternity, reproductive, and/or sexual health experience
