About the business and the role: 

Multicultural Services Centre (MSC) is an established provider of diverse community services to CaLD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Western Australians.

We have several casual and  permanent part–time positions available  for Home-care Support Workers to provide one on one culturally and linguistically appropriate home care support to eligible Home Care Package (HCP) clients in various settings including their homes and  the community. The purpose of the role is to promote and maintain eligible HCP client's independence, enhance their quality of life and prevent inappropriate admission to long term residential care by following an agreed support plan.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure that clients receive person centred care services in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Uphold the rights, choice and dignity of service users.
  • Ensure MSC policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Ensure Aged Care  Quality Standards are met for service users.
  • Provide assistance to HCP clients to remain living independently in their homes in a dignified and safe manner.
  • Provide monitoring of service users health and well-being and contribute to program's continuous improvement and service development.
  • Duties and responsibilities include domestic assistance, personal care, social support, transport ,medication monitoring (if required) and other reasonable and appropriate duties.

Selection criteria

  1. Minimum Cert III in Individual Care, Certificate III in Aged Care or Cert III in Home and Community Care.
  2. Experience working with the aged delivering services including but not limited to exercise assistance, use of hoist and other manual handling equipment and meal preparation/cooking.
  3. Ability to communicate sensitively, effectively and appropriately with and understand the needs of older people from a diverse range of socio – economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  4. Proven experience in providing quality services that assists older people to maintain their independence, dignity, cultural values and religious beliefs.
  5. Ability and willingness to work in a diverse range of settings including but not limited to, a person's home and community settings.
  6. Reliable motor vehicle( including valid registration and comprehensive insurance).
  7. An understanding of  safe work practices , proven experience in the use of appropriate manual handling techniques .
  8. Demonstrated ability to work independently and report accurately to service coordinator.

Highly desirable

  1. Proficiency in a  language other than English will be highly regarded (preferably Vietnamese, Italian , Croatian and Hindi). Please specify what other languages you speak.
  2. Previous employment experience in the health/disability /Aged Care or community services sector.
  3. Experience in direct service delivery work with CaLD clients.
  4. National Police Clearance ( less than 3 months old).
  5. First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one within 3 months.
  6. WA  Drivers licence and a reliable vehicle.
  7. Manual Handling Certificate.
