We’re seeking a Community Development Officer who will support our communities to develop capacity, deliver programs and projects that have a positive and meaningful impact within Mitchell Shire.

We strongly encourage suitably experienced candidates from not for profit and public sector backgrounds who have not yet experienced working in a local government environment come and give it a go.

This role is responsible for:

  • Leading the Positive Ageing and Disability portfolios including:
    • Delivery of the seasonal newsletter.
    • Participation in the MAV Positive Ageing Network.
  • Leading the Multicultural and First Nations portfolios including:
    • Projects, events and activities that increase diverse representation and involvement in community life including NAIDOC Week and National Reconciliation Week.
    • Delivery of projects, events and activities supporting equitable access to programs and services.
  • Monitoring and reporting to the annual action plan for the Life Stages Strategy 2019.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have demonstrated experience in delivering community development projects, programs and activities in either non-profit or government sectors.
  • Hold or be working towards tertiary qualifications in community or cultural development, community services or similar.
  • Possess a diverse set of skills and have proven experience in either government, public sector or not-for-profit industries.
