About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Communications Officer to join our team of communications specialists working to transform the health system in north, western and central Melbourne. This role will see you using your communications, marketing and writing skills to reach and engage with our key stakeholders including GPs, other primary health care professionals and our diverse local communities to deliver critical public health information.

A typical day could include:

  • Researching and writing content for newsletters, media releases, information sheets and social media posts
  • Planning a digital marketing campaign or creating a communications strategy for a new health service or pilot
  • Interviewing and writing news and feature stories and organising photographers
  • Coordinating internal staff communications including regular staff newsletters and intranet updates
  • Supporting the Digital Communications Adviser to manage our social media channels and websites
  • Producing other material such as event flyers and e-newsletters

About you

You thrive on working in a busy environment, are able to manage multiple tasks flexibly and deliver against deadlines.

You are confident writing for different audiences and different platforms especially digital channels. You are organised so you can ensure that platforms or channels are regularly updated and maintained.

You are known for your positive attitude, accountability and curiosity and are looking for a role that will allow you to hone and build on your existing skills within a supportive and highly skilled communications team.

You have a keen interest in the not-for-profit / primary health care sector.

You have a degree in media, marketing and/or communications and demonstrated experience working in a communications role, with a flair for writing, accuracy and collaborating, both with your communications team members, other staff and external stakeholders.

We are North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network, Victoria's largest independent, locally governed and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary health care in our community.

PHNs have been established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services for consumers/patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes; and improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time.
