About the VHHITAL Program

North Western Melbourne PHN is the lead agency for the Victorian HIV and Hepatitis Integrated Training and Learning (VHHITAL) program, responsible for delivery across the state. To achieve this, we work closely with a consortium of key stakeholders.

The objectives of this program are to improve the health outcomes for members of the community with HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STIs. We do this by delivering comprehensive training to general practitioners and primary care providers, supporting them in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of these conditions. Our efforts are also directed towards actively combating stigma and discrimination for people in our community.

The Lead will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the program and leading the program team to deliver Blood Borne Virus and STI training and education for Victorian primary health professionals and enhancing collaboration between primary and secondary care services.

A typical day may involve:

  • Assigning responsibilities from work plans within the VHHITAL team, overseeing tasks assigned to staff members and their implementation of budgets
  • Liaising with consortium members and other clinicians as necessary to ensure that education sessions are relevant and current
  • Lead the development of new education and promotional opportunities
  • Facilitating and supporting VHHITAL education events
  • Collating information and preparing reports as required to deliver to funding providers
  • Liaising with your manager, providing updates and reports on the progress of operational and team plans

  • Manage the development and delivery of education programs for people working in a professional service area
  • Successfully manage projects, budgets, and financial reporting
