The Community Engagement Manager reports to the Executive Officer and is responsible for overseeing and engaging in a range of community relations, marketing, communications, and supervisory and secretarial duties.
This position will play a vital role in the implementation of Motherless Daughters Australia’s (MDA) strategic plan. As a valued member of the MDA leadership team, the Community Engagement Manager provides leadership across the areas of community engagement and stakeholder management. The role will require ongoing liaising with stakeholders to maintain and further develop our engagement with the community.
Motherless Daughters Australia (MDA) represents, informs, supports and connects women and girls whose mums have died, to help navigate the everyday and life’s key milestones.
MDA has a growing community of over 5000 women and girls and provides a number of support offerings with a view to improve self-esteem, confidence, stress and grief management, alleviate feelings of depression, anxiety and improve overall health and well-being of motherless daughters including:
International research indicates that the long-term impact of mother loss is profound, with international research showing that those who lose their mother prematurely can experience anxiety and depression, loss of identity, suicidal ideation, engage in maladaptive coping mechanisms and a reluctance and fear of developing close relationships with significant others. Therefore, it is critical that MDA works to shine a light on this life altering loss, advocates for its community and addresses the entire impact of mother loss within the broader context.
Co-Founders, Danielle and Eloise, are two young women who lost their mothers early in life but were unable to find any Australian resources or support for the unique grief and isolation they experienced. They connected through social media and discovered many other women in a similar situation. The pair founded MDA in 2013.
For any further information, please contact Danielle on 0422 074 020.
