About the Opportunity

Engage and motivate the community through partnership and collaboration to foster innovative programs that improve wellbeing, resilience and social cohesion in Mosman.

Reporting to the Manager Community Services, the Community Connections Officer will establish and develop key partnerships with the community and stakeholders to develop, plan and deliver strategies that foster social connection and improve belonging in Mosman, making it easier for individuals and groups to thrive and overcome obstacles.

You will:

  • Facilitate cooperative networks across government, non-government and the community groups that can assist community connection and develop community capacity
  • Identify community assets and work with the community to build social capital and community connection and grow community leadership across Mosman
  • Oversee an annual community grants program
  • Support the thinking and implementation into practice of Assets Based Community Development methodology
  • Coordinate and promote key events within Council and across the Mosman Community (for example, NAIDOC Week, Harmony Week, International Day of People with Disability, 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence etc.)

About You

As an experienced community development worker, you will have:

  • Experience in community engagement and/or development
  • Capacity to build collaborative partnerships, networks and connections with a range of stakeholders
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in a multi-functional environment
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to interpret data, write reports and submissions
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, social sciences, community welfare or a related discipline
  • Current Class C driver licence
  • Valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate
