The Opportunity

This position will see you delivering a range of Family Services programs and initiatives in order to encourage children, families, carers in enhancing their social networks and connectedness with their community and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Provide case management, support, information, advice, referral, advocacy, parenting workshops, group work and activities to children, families and carers;
  • Provide services that supports, encourages and facilitates participation in the assessment, case planning, decision making and intervention processes;
  • Enhance safety, stability and development for children and young people through assessment, development and implementation of Child and Family Action Plans; and
  • Monitor the level of risk to children and young people, liaising with Community Based Child Protection about the needs and intervention strategies required with children at risk.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or related field;
  • Experience and knowledge in working with children and families in the provision of support and skill development services;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a sound understanding of family functioning and parenting issues;
  • Experience and knowledge in Child FIRST and Child Protection intake and assessment systems;
  • Experience and well-developed skills in the IRIS computer software program is an advantage, and a working knowledge of ISO: 9001 2015 is desirable; and
  • Current Working with Children Check.
