About MoneyMob Talkabout

MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation based in Alice Springs, delivering financial literacy education and counselling with and for people in remote Indigenous communities.

Their Money Hub in the APY Lands, provides a one-stop shop for local community members to interact with the broader economy in a safe and supportive environment. Teams also visit other communities in South Australia from Pipalyatjarra to Indulkana providing services on an outreach basis.

MoneyMob is one of the agencies that helped spearhead the campaign that resulted in the second largest corporate penalty in the history of Australian consumer law for conduct by a private organisation against disadvantaged people. About the Opportunity

Due to a period of service expansion, MoneyMob Talkabout nowhas an opportunity for a full-time Human Resources Officer to join their team based in Alice Springs, NT

This newly created position will bring HR services in-house to support MMT’s recent growth to its current team of approx. 20 staff. Additional growth is expected over the next 5 years as our programs expand into new areas.

The Human Resources Officer will support team performance and a positive and productive culture by working with managers, employees and, as appropriate, volunteers, to co-ordinate and administer various aspects of the employee ‘life cycle’, from recruitment and induction to record-keeping and end-of-employment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate MoneyMob's recruitment process and facilitate the induction and onboarding experience for new employees;
  • Support effective employee performance by coordinating training, performance monitoring and feedback processes;
  • Maintain organisational policies and compliance, including support for organisation's work health and safety functions & processes;
  • Monitor and support organisational culture;
  • Support managers in providing relevant information and advice including about legislation, policies and procedures; and
  • Provide HR and other administration support to senior management

The HR Officer will also periodically travel out to MMT's various locations around the APY Lands.

About You

This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skillset to make a difference to vulnerable communities, ideally suited to an early to mid-career HR person with an interest in community services.

To be successful within this position you must have tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline and have relevant employment experience. Previous experience working with an NFP, and/or in remote communities will be held in high regard but is not essential.

You will need to be motivated and flexible – a self-starter who is organised and able to think outside the square. You will need to be responsible for managing your workload and getting tasks done in a sometimes unpredictable work environment. Emotional intelligence is one of the key attributes you will bring to this role as well as the ability to be culturally sensitive in a diverse workplace.

Given that this is a newly created role, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to build systems and take full ownership of their position. As such, you will need to be confident working autonomously and collaboratively to strengthen the organisation. You will be an active participant in a positive workplace culture and a driver of internal and external communications and publications; as well as monitoring compliance to legislative and other requirements.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will receive an attractive remuneration circa $65,000 to $70,000 inclusive of leave loading plus super and remote salary sacrificing options to increase your take-home pay, and a great range of additional benefits including:
