Monash Health is seeking a Counsellor/Advocate (Social Worker - Grade 2) at the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA).

  • Seaford and Mornington Peninsula Location
  • Full Time 12 month Contract Position

Be part of a committed and vibrant health organisation, working within a unique multi-disciplinary setting. You will be supported to demonstrate and develop your quality clinical practice within our highly regarded service.

The successful candidates will have a strong understanding of the personal and political issues surrounding sexual assault, family violence and complex interpersonal trauma. The position is responsible for delivering high-quality counselling and advocacy to victim survivors of sexual assault and family violence and their support people, using frameworks of intersectionality, gender equality and a human rights based approach.

About SECASA

The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA) provides sexual assault and family violence therapeutic support services and advocacy across nine locations within south eastern metropolitan region of Melbourne. SECASA delivers a wide range of services including individual and group counselling, advocacy, crisis support, and community education prioritising the empowerment of victim survivors.

The Role:

  • Provide quality therapeutic interventions for children, youth and adults who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence, and their support people, through individual or family counselling, advocacy, and group work
  • Provide crisis support for people who have recently experienced sexual assault
  • Conduct risk assessments, and work collaboratively with clients and key agencies to enhance safety and wellbeing
  • Contribute to the delivery of community and professional education

  • Have you worked with complex trauma, using frameworks of intersectionality, gender equality and a human rights based approach?
  • Do you have an understanding of the personal and political dynamics of sexual assault and family violence?
  • Are you an excellent communicator, committed to collaborative work and contributing to a dynamic and resilient team?
  • Are you passionate about delivering high quality counselling support and advocacy for people who have experienced sexual assault and family violence?
