About the Position:

Monash Council is looking for an enthusiastic and driven person for the position of LGBTIQA+ Partnerships Officer to work within the Community Strengthening Department. The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development, implementation and evaluation of Council’s LGBTIQA+ Action Plan
  • Coordinating Council’s LGBTIQA+ Advisory Committee
  • Providing comprehensive advice and support to enable the organisation to work towards the Rainbow Tick Accreditation requirements. 
  • Building the internal capacity of Council staff through training and other professional development opportunities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, community development, public policy or related disciplines.
  • Previous experience working in a community development or advocacy role.
  • An understanding of local government’s role in promoting LGBTIQA+ inclusion.
  • Knowledge of the relevant Government legislation, Rainbow Tick Accreditation and other policies to improve the health and wellbeing of the LGBTIQA+ community.
  • Involvement in leading evidence based program design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders from a broad range of sectors.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal and a proactive attitude.
