As a community organisation working in Melbourne's inner west, mmvllen is committed to supporting young people who are having difficulty transitioning from school to further education or work by giving them the guidance, skills and opportunities they need to enter the next phase of their lives and career.

The role

We are looking for a volunteer to support the mmvllen team in coordinating mentors and providing administrative support for our unique Youth Mentoring Careers Pathways (YMCP) program.

The YMCP program gives young people who have barriers to employment a chance to develop professional networks, learn new skills and gain hands-on experience to kick-start their career. This unique approach to mentoring, work placement and career support ensures that the needs and interests of each participating young person are met, opening up a world of positive possibilities.

Main duties:

We are seeking someone who enjoys providing administrative support in a not-for-profit environment. The role will involve:

  • Volunteer coordinator and administration
  • Meeting coordination
  • Marketing assistance
  • Supporting skill building workshops
  • Measuring impact – collating data and reporting
  • A range of related tasks

HOW WE SUPPORT YOU

We are after someone who is relatively tech-savvy and/or willing to spend some time learning our processes. In return, mmvllen will provide you with support throughout your time volunteering with us, including:

  • Induction and ongoing support from mmvllen team members
  • We support and pay for you to go through a WWCC and National Police Check
  • We will provide training opportunities in the relevant customer relationship management (CRM) and other software
  • We aim to provide a supportive environment to learn new skills and engage in professional development opportunities
  • MMVLLEN will also provide a laptop computer if required

Time commitment and location

We're looking for someone willing to help us between 3 to 8 hours per week (negotiable), preferably on a Monday and/or Wednesday. Importantly, we need someone who can commit to the role for a minimum of 6 months.

This role can be performed from the office or remotely. However you will need to have access to reliable internet and a phone if working remotely.

RELEVANT SKILLS

  • No qualifications required
  • Experience working with volunteers and community organisation setting is highly appreciated
  • Knowledge of youth employment issues and culturally and linguistically diverse communities also appreciated
