Western Sydney Community Legal Centre Limited (WSCLC) is a not-for-profit, government-funded community legal centre offering a range of legal and social services to assist the community of Western Sydney. About the Role

WSCLC is seeking an experienced and motivated HR Officer to contribute to business operations and strategy. This is a broad role with scope to pitch new ideas and drive change in our organisation. Working as part of a small operations team, the successful candidate will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in shaping our employee experience. The successful candidate will be assisting our organisation’s HR functions and implementing streamlined HR processes.

This is an autonomous role that requires organisation, problem-solving and diligence.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Recruitment, onboarding and inductions for staff and volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist the CEO and Program Managers with regular performance reviews and management.
  • Establish and maintain electronic employee files.
  • Work with the Finance Team to implement streamlined HR processes for contracts, payroll and leave requests.
  • HR risk management.
  • Employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • Preparing, amending and issuing employment contracts, position descriptions and career plans for staff.

Duration: This is a part-time position (3 days per week) for 12 months.

Location: This position is based at our Parramatta office.

Remuneration: Remuneration according to qualifications and experience under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Industry Award.

About You

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious HR professional to take on a challenging and rewarding role with a community-centred organisation. As part of the team, you would lead our organisations’ transition to a streamlined HR system. The ideal candidate will be experienced, motivated and excited to drive change in our organisation.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Previous experience working in a generalist HR position.
  2. Ability to work autonomously and manage your workload.
  3. Superior communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills.
  4. Strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail.
  5. Ability to develop and implement plans and processes.
  6. Understanding of and commitment to the work of Community Legal Centres and demonstrated understanding of barriers to justice facing disadvantaged groups.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  8. Sound computer and IT skills.

Previous experience working in the legal sector is desired but not essential.
