  • Salary $70,000 p.a. (including salary packing).
  • Extras Additional 9.5% Super + 17.5% leave loading + Phone / Laptop allowances
  • Start Date January 2021

About the Position

Minus18 rely on the community champions who host fundraising activities to enable our work to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. These activities vary widely, and are held by schools, workplaces and individuals. In the past they have included:

  • Global brands creating in-store fundraising activations.
  • Australian celebrities, such as Troye Sivan, Montaigne and Khanh Ong, driving fundraisers and collaborative Pride Ranges.
  • Australian workplaces hosting fundraising events for Wear It Purple Day or Pride Month.
  • Local schools holding casual clothes days or BBQ fundraisers.
  • Utilising Minus18 Rainbow Ribbons to activate Cafes across Australia.
  • Fundraising events such as Minus18’s Birthday Gala.

The Fundraising Relationships Coordinator is a new role at Minus18, however you’ll be taking on the responsibilities previously shared between the Marketing Coordinator and Partnerships Coordinator, so will have their coaching and support. We’ve created a new role as these opportunities continue to grow, and alongside sponsorship, now represents 34% of our annual funding.

Roles and Responsibilities

Incoming Relationships (40%)

  • Lead the acquisition and retention of fundraising relationships with schools, community organisations and workplaces.
  • Walk fundraisers through each step of the process, and show them they are valued.
  • Meet set revenue targets, through fostering Fundraising and Donor relationships, and identify and apply for grant applications when necessary.
  • Manage payments and financial administration for fundraising opportunities (including invoicing and following up payments).
  • Lead donor appreciation initiatives, including donor thank yous, and speaking at events.
  • Gather feedback through surveys to optimise this work, and identify key fundraisers and donors who have potential to grow into organisation-wide partners.

Generating New Opportunities (50%)

  • Conceptualise ways to encourage new fundraiser and donor activities.
  • Lead the coordination of Minus18’s own fundraiser activities (such as events) from time to time.
  • With the Marketing Coordinator, develop pitch documents, brochures and promotional content to encourage new fundraisers, and work to maintain their presence throughout Marketing channels. .
  • Share the outcomes of Minus18 activities with community champions and donors to show them the impact of their contributions.
  • Field incoming media enquiries about the impact of Minus18’s work, and as part of a team, work with media relationships and community influencers to encourage others to support our mission.

Team, Culture & Reporting (10%)

  • Work as a team player, provide support to other staff, and drive our mission to support and include LGBTQIA+ youth.
  • Report regularly to the team on fundraising and donation developments and outcomes
  • Provide support in other tasks, as directed by the Operations Manager

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Qualifications in public relations, business, marketing, communications, program development or other related discipline; or
  2. Experience in fundraising, public relations, sales, marketing, communications or related discipline desired.
  3. Relationship building experience, and a warm communicator.
  4. Strong understanding of ways to grow fundraising and visibility opportunities.
  5. Lived experience and strong understanding of diverse identities within the LGBTQIA+ community.
  6. Passion for Minus18’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth and create social change.

OTHER

If successful, a Valid Victorian Working With Childrens Check (employee) and successful Police Background Check must be obtained before commencing.

FLEXIBILITY AND ACCESS

Role Status We are open to hiring this role at 0.8 FTE - at 4 days per week, or spread out over 5 days.

Start Time We offer a flexible start time between 8:00am and 9:30am.

Location We offer adhoc work from home arrangements when necessary.

Office Space This role will be located at the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda,

  • an exciting, purpose built space for LGBTQIA+ community organisations
  • opening in 2021. This space includes:
  • A raised Tram Stop within 100m from the building entrance.
  • Elevators and accessible bathrooms.
  • End of trip facilities.
  • Dedicated prayer rooms.
