About the role

The Research and Advocacy Business Unit provides strategic and operational leadership for Mind’s investment in research, evaluation and policy advocacy. The Business Unit is responsible for developing and delivering on a five-year plan for advocacy and social change. Within Business Unit, the Research and Evaluation program aims to understand the impact of mental ill-health on people’s lives and the policies and programs that help them lead contributing lives.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Research Assistant for permanent, full time opportunity based at our Heidelberg office. You will coordinate and conduct internal and external research and evaluation projects in collaboration with the Manager, Research and Evaluation and the Senior Researcher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and interpret data and synthesise evidence that will assist with diverse functions including service improvement, policy and business development.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and initiate new activities and partnerships including grants and funding opportunities.
  • Ensure that new knowledge and research outputs are disseminated and promoted to appropriate audiences internally and externally.
  • Support a business-wide approach to service evaluation and monitoring that informs quality improvement, service development and system advocacy.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high levels of engagement in research and evaluation activities to assist in achieving objectives.

What you’ll bring

  • Post-graduate tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Health, Social Policy, Social Science or other related field as designated by Mind.
  • Mental Health knowledge as well as a Research degree or an Academic background is desirable.
  • Expertise in undertaking research and service evaluation activities in complex organisational settings with strong knowledge of quantitative data analysis.
  • Experience in data analysis and evaluation including logic models and outcome evaluation.
  • Excellent research, writing and presentation skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access Database and statistics package SPSS. Data experience (Power BI) would be an advantage.
