About the role

Mind operate Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Short-Term Accommodation services for people with severe and enduring psychosocial disability, the residences are staffed 24/7 and funded through residents’ NDIS packages. Mental Health Support Workers deliver high quality, recovery oriented psychosocial support to customers, families and carers within a residential setting.

We are seeking several dynamic, committed casual Mental Health Support Workers to work in our new SIL Haven property in the Geelong area that will accommodate 16 residents. Working on a 24/7 rotating roster, you will play an integral role in developing individual programs to support client’s goals and aspirations to work towards recovery and independent living.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients to help them achieve their recovery goals.
  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences.
  • Assist clients by including families and carers in the recovery program through provision of education and information.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Contribute to the day to day operations of the residential service including housekeeping duties and maintaining tenancy partnerships.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate III) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of NDIS and the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of working with people with an intellectual disability or ASD.
  • Relevant experience in facilitating group activities for clients experiencing mental ill health.
