About the role

The Supported Independent Living (SIL) service operates in the context of the local community to support people living with psychosocial disability/dual disability/complex needs to achieve their better life goals which reflects Mind’s Model of Recovery oriented practice, dual disability framework, human rights and least restrictive practice. The SIL service operates in various areas across the state.

We are seeking a permanent, full time Lead Practitioner - SIL Residential for the 3 client SIL residential home in Toowoomba operating on a 24/7 basis. Your strong leadership skills are required for this fast paced environment to support and mentor a multi-disciplinary team providing quality, evidenced based outcomes to clients, families and carers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality and safe services are delivered to clients living with psychosocial/dual disability/complex needs in a supported accommodation environment.
  • Lead staff in effective practice and coach them in a variety of techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with other services including clinical services, government and non-government agencies to ensure client needs are met holistically.
  • Ensure individual recovery plans and any behaviour support plans are implemented in service delivery ensuring legislative requirements are met.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Proven experience providing mental health services to clients living with psychosocial, dual disability and/or complex needs and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with service providers, agencies and key stakeholders.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching and providing supervision to a team.
