About the role

The short stay Adult Step-Up and Step-Down (SUSD) program within the Sub-Acute program is delivered through partnerships with QLD hospital networks. Clients are able to access specialist clinical mental health staff 24 hours a day whilst supporting connections with family and friends as well as learning strategies to live fulfilling lives within their community. The SUSD’s provide a schedule of group activities alongside individual 1:1 support based on strengths and goals identified in recovery plans.

We are seeking two permanent, full time Community Mental Health Practitioners for our Mackay SUSD residence. The Practitioner will play an integral role in providing a person centred, strength based, and recovery focused approach to assisting clients with their skill development and community access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support clients by delivering high quality service and facilitating positive educational and social experiences.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team offering specialised psychosocial support.
  • Operate collaboratively with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated and integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid clients to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Contribute to day to day operations of a residential service by undertaking housekeeping duties.

What you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with people with mental health issues, issues relating to homelessness, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS and Community Services sector and ability to build strong relationships with agencies, clinical providers and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise to meet customer service delivery requirements.
