Mind Australia Limited is a leading community managed specialist mental health service provider. We have been supporting people dealing with the day-to-day impacts of mental illness, as well as their families, friends and carers for 40 years.The Mind Australia Equality Centre provides a safe, healing space for members of the LGBTIQA+ community providing support through individual and group/family counselling, sex therapy and suicide prevention.

About the role

As an Community Mental Health Practitioner – Peer Practitioner, you will provide after care services to clients within the LGBTIQA+ community following a suicide attempt or with suicidal ideation. You will utilise your lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to provide specialist services to clients, families and carers.

What are we looking for?

  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work or other health related field as designated by Mind
  • Lived experience of mental ill health and recovery to provide specialist services to clients, families, carers within the LGBTIQA+ community
  • Proven experience working with the LGBTIQA+ community
  • The ability to help clients build networks and support after they have exited the service
  • Experience in the development and delivery of group work using peer principles
