We are currently looking for Support Leaders to join our Supported Independent Living team to lead and mentor our Disability Support Workers.

Our Supported Independent Living offers houses and apartment style living for people living with an intellectual disability. It is an opportunity for people to discover their independence and to live lives of their choosing supported by a team of staff who are committed to delivering quality outcomes which maximise choice and inclusion.

The Support Leader is primarily responsible for the direct line management of Disability Support Workers working in multiple accommodations. The Support Leader will oversee the delivery of physical, emotional and behavioural support and care to clients. You will need to be very equipped to ‘firefight spot fires’ as they arise, provide support to each house in the community, think quickly on your feet to make a decision and be accessible by phone at all times.

In addition, the Support Leader must:

  • Visit the customer houses areas throughout shift on a routine basis to provide support to staff and clients
  • Provide over the phone support and guidance to all staff within the accommodations as needed
  • Ensure the effective communication is maintained at all times
  • Adapt service delivery and support as appropriate to meet participant needs and preferences
  • Respond to any immediate problems in service delivery and assist in identifying and implementing immediate and effective solutions.
  • Identify gaps in service delivery and make appropriate recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the implementation of strategies and policies to meet the rights and responsibilities of participants with an intellectual disability.
  • Work collaboratively with other Support Leaders to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery, which empowers participants to be involved in decision making and choice

Listed below are some of the criteria needed to be successful in the role:

  • Demonstrated experience in leadership, preferably within the disability industry (NDIS experience/knowledge is highly desirable)
  • Successful completion of a minimum Certificate 4 in Disability, Mental Health or similar
  • Experience supporting people with disability and behaviours of concern utilising a professional and empathetic approach
  • NDIS Worker Screening check or current DHS Disability Employment Screening clearance
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate
  • A current unrestricted South Australian driver’s licence
