about the role

Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for successfully delivering the Mill House Ventures Social Enterprise business advisory Programs. The Social Enterprise Programs Manager will oversee Mill House operations and events and represent the organisation professionally across existing stakeholders to maintain relationships and our visibility as the premiere social venture intermediary in the Canberra region.

Salary: This role will start at $75,000 per annum (plus 10% superannuation) for a six- month probationary period. On successful completion of the probationary period, the salary will be increased to $80,000 per annum (plus 10% superannuation).

Location: Mill House is based at the University of Canberra, Bruce 2617 ACT

Responsibilities

1. Managing the Mill House Programs

  • Program design and planning, including budgeting, systems set-up, product descriptions and documentation, to meet Mill House strategic goals
  • Proactively monitor program progress and resolve issues to ensure quality outcomes by managing stakeholder communication
  • Co-facilitate program sessions, workshops, and group discussion
  • Assist with pipeline development, social enterprise recruitment and selection
  • Identify improvement opportunities in the programs content, approach and tools in conjunction with the Mill House Team, and organise content development where needed
  • Coordinate programs and ensure impact data gathering
  • Manage deadlines, budgets and activities

Measurement of Success/KPIs:

  • Build out a documented pipeline of likely accelerator candidates to nurture into the program
  • Each Mill House Program will have been documented and come with their own Program Manager's and Facilitator's Guides and Participant Workbooks

2. Supporting the General Manager in the Mill House operations and strategic intent

  • Capacity planning for program scheduling and resourcing
  • Support with pipeline management by taking consultations and networking
  • Organising the Mill House Operational Planning and Program and Mid-program review sessions
  • Strategic oversights of systems and platforms including website, subscriptions to productivity tools and other ICT platforms
  • Office space and supplies management (stationary, printer, safe disposal of confidential documents)
  • Engaging independent contractors

Measurement of Success/KPIs:

  • Creation and management of the Operations Schedule
  • Fully resourced programs

3. Supporting Mill House Events

  • Event scheduling (updating ticketing platform, website, and partner networks for advertising)
  • Event planning and budgeting
  • Event resourcing and preparation, including venue, photographer and catering bookings, guest speakers arranged, supplies and materials if applicable
  • Stakeholder Invitations management
  • Event and Venue logistics (coordinating set up and clean-up)
  • Creating and managing Event management documents

Measurement of Success/KPIs:

  • Documented process and checklist for future event management
  • Attendees and exhibitors are satisfied

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Attend team meetings and contribute to logistic arrangements and plans
  • Report on budget needs, outgoings, expenses and maintain record keeping for receipts etc.
  • The role will contribute to the programs' broader operations and continued growth and our impact areas, including business mentor engagement and management, workshop management and facilitation, and program design
  • Prepare report for General Manager and Board
  • Any duties as reasonably requested by the General Manager

Key skills

  • An interest and passion in building a Social Enterprise ecosystem
  • A strong understanding of business and financial fundamentals
  • Tech savviness including working knowledge (or the abilities to quickly get up to speed on) MicroSoft Office 365, GSuite, WordPress and PODIO
  • Business analysis
  • Workshop and Event Facilitation support
  • An ability to:
    • Present effectively to large groups and articulate clear messages
    • Find innovative ways to resolve problems
    • Multitask and deal with several clients
    • Problem solve in a business context and generate ideas and process improvements
    • Work at all levels to pitch in and get the work done
    • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of social enterprises, colleagues, and partners to achieve outcomes
