About the role

This new position will work closely with the Director People & Culture and broader P&C team, to develop and implement contemporary HR practices and processes, strengthening the performance of the People & Culture Service portfolio.

Responsible for business partners, recruitment and compliance areas, this role is key in strengthening people's experience across their employment lifecycle.

You will provide strategic and operational workforce management advice and oversee complex people issues. Working as 2IC to the Director People & Culture, you are a senior HR practitioner with a strong generalist HR background. A natural coach and mentor to the broader P&C team, people leaders and staff, your priority is to further strengthen the employee experience at Wellways, and position Wellways as an employer of choice.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partner with the Director P&C to develop, implement and monitor the P&C strategy and strategic workforce planning practices
  • Develop initiatives to strengthen employee's experience throughout their Wellways lifecycle
  • Prepare reports for executive and board as outlined in the annual program of works, or ad hoc as required
  • Coach managers across the breadth of people management areas
  • Represent or support matters across various employee and industrial relations jurisdictions

Skills & experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior HR role
  • Experience developing and implementing workforce strategies and initiatives that meet the organisation's needs
  • High-level knowledge of contemporary practices in the workforce areas, particularly in relation to recruitment and retention
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial relations landscape
  • Strong understanding of the SCHADS Award advantageous
  • AHRI membership advantageous
