About the role

The successful applicant will provide mental health support by way of telephone, to enable individuals to access information, services and supports.

The Peer Worker role will work during the hours of 4pm – 12am.

About Skylight

Skylight Programs deliver a range of recovery-oriented community mental health services by working alongside people experiencing mental illness, family and friends who care for them, and the broader general South Australian community.

Skylight services are developed with input from participants to ensure responsive, effective services that build on strengths, increase resilience and improve mental health.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to use lived experience of mental health recovery or carer of someone with mental illness.
  • A tertiary qualification, diploma or certificate in Peer Work is highly desirable and/or extensive work experience in community services.
  • Experience in delivering telephone support services.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support during a time of distress.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Demonstrated experience in negotiation and conflict management skills.
