Skylight is looking to recruit a Community Mental Health Worker to support the Coordinator of the Short Breaks Program. The role is classified as SACS Level 4 and a Maximum Term Contract until 30 June 2024 – 0.8 – 1.0fte.

The Role

Our Short Breaks programs gives participants the opportunity to step away from day-to-day life, relax and refresh, learn new skills, focus on well-being and socialising.

Skylight Mental Health focuses these breaks around recovery and living well.

The Community Mental Health Worker will be required to build and maintain respectful and compassionate relationships with participants within the Short Breaks Program to assist them to determine and access appropriate supports through their NDIS Plan. This will include offering opportunities and encouragement in identifying needs and meeting individual goals towards recovery.

The Community Mental Health Worker will offer individual support in accordance with rehabilitation and recovery principles to facilitate the caring journey for carers and the recovery journey for participants.

Duties include:

  • Assist Coordinator with the development, delivery and evaluation of high quality Short Breaks service
  • Develop and implement assessment of participant need to ensure appropriate and targeted service delivery
  • Develop relevant networks and maintain key stakeholder relationships
  • Support and supervision of Short Breaks service delivery staff
  • Development of policies, process and resources to ensure smooth running of Short Breaks service delivery

About You

  • Qualifications within the mental health or community services field, or equivalent experience
  • High level of self-management, communication, organisational and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as be flexible and adaptable in a dynamic team environment
  • Ability to work with small groups to create an environment of positive regard, collaboration and fun
  • Current DHS Working With Children check and Disability clearances
  • Current drivers licence.
