The purpose of the Brisbane Emergency Response Outreach Service (BEROS) is to support young people self-placing in the care of the Department of Child Safety (Brisbane Region) seek safe and appropriate accommodation. The program activities involve assertive outreach, transport and active planned support through joint coordination with Community Living Association (CLA).

Young people who are eligible to participate in the program:

  • Are identified by the Department or the outreach program as young people who are self-placing in statutory care.
  • Have high support needs due to mental and physical health, substance use and behavioural issues, as well as, identified disabilities.
  • Often engage in high risk behaviours such as sleeping rough, substance use, and association with others who are exploitative.
  • Are vulnerable to exploitation due to their age, emotional needs and/or disability.

Micah Projects is seeking four Youth Support and Advocacy Workers to work as part of the BEROS team to respond to crisis calls and requests after hours on the Sunshine Coast and assist young people to access safe and appropriate accommodation.

These positions are fixed term, part time to June 2021 and classified under the SCHADS Award as a Level 3. We are seeking two positions to work a minimum of 19.8 hours per week, and two positions to work a minimum of 26.4 hours of work per week, between 5pm – midnight.
