The Youth Support and Advocacy Worker responds to crisis calls and requests after hours and assists young people on the Sunshine Coast to access safe and appropriate accommodation. You will develop a multi-coordinated response and build relationship with external stakeholder and young people to achieve positive outcomes and stability for the target group.

This position will:

  • Undertake outreach work to where young people are staying in other peoples’ residences, public spaces or couch surfing.
  • Transport young people to safe and appropriate accommodation.
  • Work in cooperation with the team and other partnering service providers to access services to meet the individual needs and requirements of the young person.

This is a fixed term, part time role to 30 June 2021 with the likelihood to extend and offers a minimum of 19.8 hours per week.

This position is part of the BEROS, a program to support young people self-placing in the care of the Department of Child Safety (Brisbane Region) seek safe and appropriate accommodation. The program activities involve assertive outreach, transport and active planned support through joint coordination with Community Living Association (CLA).

We are seeking candidates with the following skills & experience:

  • Experience working with young people with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the child safety system.
  • The ability to work across a variety of shifts within a roster, including hours between 5pm – midnight, weekends and public holidays.
  • Minimum TAFE Diploma in Community Services with work experience, or a Degree in Human Services/Social Work.
  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to work in Australia.
