The Safer Families Initiative (SFI) is a cluster of services available to families that have experienced domestic and family violence. Within SFI, BDVS has partnered with Carinity Community Care, funded by the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women for 18 months, to provide intake and assessment for young people and carers into the ReNew Program. Griffith University will be working with the Initiative as an external evaluator.

The ReNew Program is designed to support the whole family whilst assisting young male children to understand and address behavioural issues (use of violence), arising from the impact of domestic and family violence within their family and home.

Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Micah Projects is seeking a full time Women’s Advocate to join the Safer Families Initiative for a period of 18 months. This role will provide specialist assessment of appropriate referral pathway into ReNew program delivered by Carinity (group program for young males using violence towards Mum or female care giver). This position will provide case management responses including psycho-education and support and advocacy for mothers and female care givers of boys and young males either being assessed for the ReNew program, attending BDVS Psycho-educative program or who have been referred and attending the ReNew program.

This is position is classified under the SCHADS Award as a Level 5.
