The Safer Families Initiative (SFI) is a cluster of services available to families that have experienced domestic and family violence. Within SFI, BDVS has partnered with Carinity Community Care, funded by the Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women for 18 months, to provide intake and assessment for young people and carers into the ReNew Program. Griffith University will be working with the Initiative as an external evaluator.

The ReNew Program is designed to support the whole family whilst assisting young male children to understand and address behavioural issues (use of violence), arising from the impact of domestic and family violence within their family and home.

Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Micah Projects is seeking a full time Safer Families Intake Worker to provide intake, screening and information and referral responses to individuals and families who have been referred for risk assessment, safety planning and case management as part of the Safer Families program which includes the delivery of services to families where there is child to parent abuse. This position is an integral part of the BDVS Safer Families Program and is responsible for receiving initial intake of incoming referrals, these will include self-referrals, internal referrals at BDVS and external referrals

This is a fixed term, full time position for a period of 18 months with a minimum of 38 hours of work available per week and is classified under the SCHADS Award as a Level 3.
