About the Organisation

This large community health organisation, provides hospital and community health services throughout Melbourne. Offering a wide range of career progression and development opportunities, due to the variety of services on offer and, a high level of growth projected over the coming years, now is an exciting time to join. They are currently implementing a new family violence program and are searching for multiple Intake Workers for permanent positions where you can choose to work full time or, part time (minimum 3 days).

About the role

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will have a key focus on promoting the safety of children and families by applying a strong risk assessment and management approach.

  • Provide intake and assessment, casework to men who use violence against women and children
  • Assist with the prevention of further male violence through the provision of information, education and referrals
  • Liaise with relevant services and ensure referral linkages are developed and utilised
  • Support integrated responses to address male family violence through accountability and risk management
  • Provide referral and advocacy services

About you

You will have an understanding of the main recommendations that have been made and are being implemented as a result of the Royal Commission into family violence. You will also have.

  • A minimum qualification of a sector recognised and accredited Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Welfare Work or equivalent or a wiliness to work towards a Bachelor of Social Worker within 3 -5 years. (Qualifications must be approved by recognised professional bodies: ie. AASW, Community Services Council, APS etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients with complex needs and behaviours (eg. trauma, substance abuse, mental health, parenting issues, disability
  • Experience in completing client centred assessments, case management and collaborative development of support plans and goals
