Our Foster and Kinship Care team currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced professional Clinician to join the team in Caboolture on a fixed term full-time basis. This parental leave cover is available now up until 1st March 2021.

The Role…

As part of a close team, you will provide clinical oversight and direction in order to provide high quality, out-of-home care and support for children, young people, and their families where possible, to bring about therapeutic change as informed by the Mercy Community Model of Practice in a needs-based, trauma sensitive and relationship/attachment focused framework in order to assist them to reach their full potential.

About You… To be eligible for this position you will require (Key Selection Criteria):

  • 3-4 year tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing case assessment / work services to children and families within a child protection framework.
  • Demonstrated high level skills in developing and implementing effective assessment, creative and targeted therapeutic intervention and care strategies for children and young people affected by trauma and disrupted attachment.
  • An excellent understanding of statutory child protection processes including a sound knowledge of, and sensitivity to a range of behavioural presentations, including cross-cultural awareness.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and transfer sound knowledge and principles of therapeutic care from planning into daily care delivery practice with staff to produce written case notes and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, their families, statutory case managers and other key stakeholders involved in care delivery.
  • Willing and able to work within a Christian context and Mercy Community’s mission, purpose and values.
  • Demonstrated intermediate ability to use computer IT systems including MS Word and Excel.
  • Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver’s License.
  • Evidence of current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Ability to obtain positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and any other legislatively required personal history screening as required.

It is beneficial for candidates to have:

  • An understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society together with a commitment to culturally appropriate engagement and practice.
  • Registration with a recognised professional practice body i.e. AASW or APS.

This position offers a competitive annual salary of $78,921 to $82,478 (pro rata) in line with Level 5 of our Enterprise Agreement plus Superannuation. You will also have the opportunity to increase your take-home pay by salary sacrificing and other benefits.
