About the Role

The Youth and Homelessness team are seeking a Casual Youth Worker to work within our Carlow House residential program as per below:

  • Must be available to work a mix of weekdays and weekends
  • Shift times include 0700-1930 and 1900-0730 sleep over

Carlow House is a 24-hour medium term supported accommodation service for young people aged between 16-19 years who are homeless, or at risk of being homeless. We are seeking staff to work alongside young people and empower them to learn new skills and develop independence. We aim to assist young people to build their confidence, self-esteem, create strong relationships and support networks using evidence-based approaches. The principles that underpin our work are that we are relationship focussed, trauma informed, risk responsive, culturally strong and person centred.

If you have experience working in a therapeutic residential setting with young people, are self-motivated and have a passion for working with young people, we want to hear from you.

Minimum Requirements

(Yet not limited to; please refer to the position description):

  • Diploma or higher qualifications in Youth Work or relevant Human Services
  • Minimum 12 months demonstrated experience working with young people who are homeless, or at risk or who present with complex needs (Mental Health and Wellbeing, AOD, emotional regulation)
  • Minimum 12 months demonstrated experience working with young people in therapeutic residential settings
  • Significant Knowledge and Understanding of Trauma Informed Practice
  • Experience working collaboratively with other agencies, significant people within the young person’s support system and relevant others
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Current Class C Driver’s Licence
  • Current First Aid
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
