A little bit about the position

MercyCare is looking for multiple Specialist Carers to provide a safe and nurturing home environment to children in placement within our Family Group Homes. This includes provision of the day to day care for children and young people as part of a therapeutic care team. The role is a live-in role, consisting of 24 hour shifts on a rotational roster over a fortnightly period.

Minimum requirements

  • Relevant TAFE or Tertiary Human Service qualifications in family and community studies are desired
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role working with children or young people
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues related to children and young people who have experienced trauma, attachment and relationship difficulties
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child development issues and the care needs of children and young people living in out of home care
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Driver’s Licence
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
