A little bit about the position

MercyCare is seeking a General Hand to join our Aboriginal Short Stay Accommodation based in Derby (DASSA), on a full time permanent basis working afternoons between 1pm to 9pm.

The successful candidate will be providing and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and comfort in all common areas and facilities in DASSA. You will be liaising with the Manager and Service & Administration Coordinator if there are any cleaning issues that may need to be addressed with guests. You will also be an active team member in creating ideas that can enhance the service delivery of the service.

Minimum requirements

  • Previous housekeeping experience desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial, industrial and domestic cleaning
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • High level of customer service and attention to detail
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills to develop effective relationships promote services and resolve clients/staff issues in an empathetic, sensitive and flexible manner
  • Demonstrated level time management and organisational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Sound documentation and information management skills
  • Willingness and ability to participate in the development and implementation of innovative work practices to improve the quality of guest support
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
