About the role

MercyCare’s Disability Services team is seeking 4 new Disability Support Workers due to growth within our business. These challenging and rewarding permanent part time roles are required across the Perth Metropolitan area supporting participants in their own home. Successful applicants must have availability to work up to full time hours but a minimum of 20 hours.

We are looking for candidates in the western and southern areas of Perth, with some suburbs including: Coolbellup, Beaconsfield, Hamilton Hill, Orelia, Parmelia and, Mossman Park.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Providing person centred support to people living with a disability including in-home, personal, daily living, social support in accordance with their individual plans
  • Promoting lifelong learning, independence and enabling people to access their community as fully as they wish
  • Providing support and assisting clients to achieve individual goals

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Certificate III in Community Care, Aged Care, Individualised Supports or Disability (equivalent or related field) AND/OR relevant life experience
  • Experience working with Mental Health preferable
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge working with people on a one on one basis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop rapport with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to work autonomously and part of a team environment
  • Good comprehension of English with excellent verbal and listening skills
  • Driver’s Licence
  • Access to a roadworthy vehicle which is registered in WA and covered by Third-Party Insurance (as a minimum) issued by an insurance company
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Clearance (obtained within the last 6 months)
