As one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of Indigenous Australians, and a leader in global and tropical research into life-threatening illnesses, Menzies School of Health Research continues to translate its research into effective partnerships and programs in communities across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
RHDAustralia supports the prevention, diagnosis and management of acute rheumatic fever (ARF) and rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Australia. RHDAustralia is based at the Menzies School of Health Research and is funded under the Australian Government’s Rheumatic Fever Strategy.
The Champions4Change (C4C) program is a culturally safe support program for people living with ARF and RHD. With support from RHDAustralia, the program is run by people from across Australia with the lived experience of ARF and RHD, designed and led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. The Champions support each other, advocate for ending RHD and design education and awareness programs for those in their own communities.
With broad direction from the RHDAustralia Senior Cultural Advisor, the C4C Project Coordinator will contribute to the conceptual development of the C4C program, using experience-based, co-design approaches, and will implement core components of the program: resource development, training and education and evaluation. The C4C Project Coordinator will build and nurture relationships with the Champions and support them by providing, or brokering access to, the tools and skills they need to achieve their goals and sustain and grow the C4C program.
This position is designated for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
