about the opportunity

Men and Family Centre have received funding to develop and implement a 20 week online pilot Men’s Behaviour Change group for perpetrators of family violence living in rural, regional and remote communities. In collaboration with No to Violence (NTV) this is an opportunity to establish, run and evaluate on online program that will enable men from multiple jurisdictions to access an intervention regardless of location.

MBC online facilitators are responsible for delivery and co-facilitation of Men’s Behaviour Change (MBC) groups for clients. Group sessions are 90 minutes in duration and are delivered in accordance with the NSW Practice Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change Programs.

Facilitators are responsible for Intake and Assessment interviews for potential members of the MBC group, engaging with NTV and MFC in relation to reflective practice, clinical supervision and regular meetings in relation to the project and, to work in partnership with other MFC staff, services and organisations in responding to risk.

MBC Facilitators are responsible for the maintenance of appropriate records and clinical notes relating to both the MBC Group and Intake & Assessment interviews and communicating relevant information to other MFC staff and/or external agencies as required.

The work of this position is guided by the NSW Practice Standards for Men’s Domestic Violence Behaviour Change Programs, a gender transformative framework and the Our Watch Change the Story Framework.

This position is remunerated in line with the Social Home Care and Disability Services (SCHaDS) Award 5.2.

This is a remote/work from home role, there are no in-person requirements for this role.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertaking Intake & Assessment interviews for potential clients of MBC group
  • Co-facilitation of weekly Men’s Behaviour Change Group and maintenance of records of same to NSW Practice Standards including online groups
  • Participation in curriculum development
  • Collaborative risk assessment and management within an integrated response/team
  • Liaison with Family Advocacy and Support Worker in regard to women whose partners or ex-partners are attending MBCP.
  • Undertaking liaison and communication with communities of interest, service providers, networks and inter-agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • Undertaking regular clinical supervision
  • Participating in regular reflective practice meetings with MFC and NTV
  • Liaison with MFC, NTV and external evaluation team
  • Other duties and activities consistent with the above as negotiated with other MFC staff/Manager

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Relevant formal qualifications (social science, social work, psychology or related discipline) from a recognised training organisation (tertiary or vocational)
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in in working with families affected by domestic violence including gender transformative and structural intersectional analysis and, the delivery of men’s behaviour change programs
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in the delivery of groups for people with complex needs (including perpetrators of violence)
  • Relevant skills in assessing individual client needs and providing appropriate intervention and case management
  • Ability to deliver groups in an online setting
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma and ability to work in a trauma responsive way
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders including agencies delivering domestic violence prevention services
  • Ability to be self-directed and flexible
  • Ability to undertake administrative and reporting tasks
  • A commitment to and understanding of EEO policy and WH&S safety standards, and ethical practice principles
  • Current NSW police check and working with children check or the ability to obtain these

Desirable

  • Familiarity with NSW Practice Standards for Men’s Behaviour Change Programs.
