The Opportunity

The Young Communities team are currently seeking a Youth Project Officer to deliver the NorthWestSafe Youth Project, funded by the Department of Industry, Science, Energy and Resources. The Youth Project Officer is responsible for providing intensive support to young people aged between 12 and 24 years to reduce offending behaviour amongst participants through reducing crime related risk factors, increasing engagement with education, training and employment and increasing community connectedness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of the NorthWestSafe Youth Project (NWSYP), including working closely with the lead agency The Youth Junction Inc. to plan, develop and implement the project
  • Provide direct case management to young people through various intervention strategies to link and maintain engagement in education, training and employment and to increase community connectedness
  • Determine appropriate interventions and supports for young people and their families, making referrals to internal and external stakeholders to address their areas of risk and need
  • Undertake written work including program documentation, case notes, evaluations and reports as required
  • Develop and maintain positive links and working relationships with local community agencies and organisations in the delivery of youth services

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Youth Work, Welfare, Community Development or a related discipline with come experience
  • Experience in working with young people at – risk within a case management framework
  • Experience working with young people at – risk or vulnerable
  • Current Victorian Driver’s licence
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
