The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an energetic and self-motivated person to assume the role of Social Planning Officer in an exciting and rapidly changing environment. Reporting to the Coordinator, you will be a key member of the Social Planning and Wellbeing team. The Social Planning Officer will help create a vibrant and connected community in one of Melbourne’s fastest growing areas through their expertise in community infrastructure planning and social policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Council’s approach to community infrastructure planning
  • Develop and implement strategy and policy in response to the social, health and wellbeing issues facing a diverse and growing community
  • Contribute to the development of the Council and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Degree in social planning or related field with substantial experience in social policy and community infrastructure planning, preferably in a local government setting
  • Awareness and understanding of the socio-economic and political context of issues impacting upon community infrastructure planning and the health and wellbeing of a diverse, growing community
  • Strategy and policy development skills
  • Project management skills
  • Research and data analysis skills
  • Stakeholder engagement and management skills
