The Opportunity

Melton City Councils Families and Children’s services program is excited to advertise the opportunity to be part of an innovative and passionate team who strives for continuous improvement and best practice.

The Kindergarten Engagement Officer is a brand new role and the successful applicant will work to increase kindergarten participation rates of children experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build effective and sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders to identify and respond to barriers to kindergarten participation and to support the fair, inclusive, equitable allocation of kindergarten places.
  • Strengthen engagement processes, including active outreach, sector capacity building, effective community engagement and targeted promotion.
  • Contribute and work effectively within a team environment including actively contributing to team planning, development activities and working groups.
  • Support the collection of data to inform infrastructure & early years planning, best practice and continuous improvement opportunities.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in early childhood, education, health, welfare, social work, community development or community services.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, negotiating and problem solving skills
  • Experience in working with families with young children, including those who are experiencing disadvantage and vulnerability.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.
  • Victorian Drivers Licence
