The Opportunity

Council are seeking a Jobs Victoria Advocate to contribute to the Victorian Government’s enhanced Jobs Victoria employment support program to prioritise the needs of young people. Funded through Jobs Victoria you will play an important face-to-face navigation role. This role will be based in the Young Communities team.

Key Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Help people navigate employment, training and community services by proactively connecting with people face to face where they are, in their local communities and streamline their service experience.
  • Connect with job seekers who may need assistance to prepare for or secure suitable and sustainable employment and/or ensure they are aware of the supports available.
  • Identify service delivery gaps for job seekers and proactively seek ways to improve service delivery.
  • Keep accurate records and maintain data integrity for reporting purposes.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a social work, human services or human resource-related discipline or extensive experience in a community employment service or setting
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the employment, education and/or community services system
  • Resource, source and facilitate brokerage partnerships and/or use of specialist services where required for the delivery of programs
  • An understanding of delivering externally funded projects and milestone reporting
