The position is based in the Finance team, part of Corporate Services. The team aims to provide financial accounting, operations, reporting and control to the organisation’s resources.

The team is responsible for:

  • Preparation, organising, consolidating and monitoring of Operational and Capital Budget across the agency
  • Preparation, consolidation and completion of the Annual Audit and Special Audit of specific program funds
  • Provision of Monthly Operating Reports to Management in relation to the state of the agency’s financial performance

About the role

The Transactions Officer provides accounting support to the Finance function of Melbourne City Mission and its related entities. The role is responsible for securely maintaining client data, generating timely and accurate invoices, debt collection and other duties as required.

Duties of this role may include but are not limited to the following:

Transactions

  • Set up and maintain invoicing schedule related to service agreement/funding/rents and their associated increments like CPI increase & variations in contract.
  • Raise invoices / credit notes in the accounting system and reconcile client account on a fortnightly and monthly basis.
  • Process refunds to Clients/Plan Manager/NDIA.
  • Manage daily receipting in D365 and Banking of cash/cheques as required.
  • Maintain schedule on Debt Management Letters.

General Accounting

  • Respond to audit queries as required.
  • Assist Finance team to prepare year-end accounts, annual and special audits.
  • Ensure services are delivered within the framework of MCM’s policies and procedures, legislative requirements, and meet the relevant service standards.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in accounts receivable and administration
  • Excellent customer service
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Accuracy and attention to detail when managing accounting figures and financial records.
  • Effective communication skills to develop client relationships and articulate and negotiate expectations.
  • An ability to work autonomously, yet be a team player to communicate and coordinate with others

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Computerised Accounting Software – Dynamic 365.
