The Position

Melba's Practice, Quality and Safeguards team are seeking a part-time (0.5FTE) Facilitator to be based at our Dandenong office, working alongside our ARROW members and groups.

The work of ARROW

ARROW is Melba's self-advocates group. It stands for Advocacy | Rights | Representation | Outcomes | Worth

ARROW:

  • is an advisory group
  • represents everyone who purchases our services
  • provides valuable feedback to Melba on how we are doing
  • supports our participants to self-advocate and provide their own feedback
  • takes on different projects within Melba and the wider community

ARROW is split into regional groups to make sure every area in Victoria where Melba offers support is represented.

In brief, the role is to facilitate a representative group of people supported by Melba to:

  • advocate and educate other people receiving services, families and natural supporters, community, and Melba staff on human rights and zero tolerance
  • provide input and feedback on organisational policy and procedure relating to services and supports delivered by Melba
  • participate in staff recruitment and induction training
  • encourage and support persons supported to provide feedback
  • actively participate in Annual General Meetings and other events
  • provide feedback and reports on ARROW’s activities to the Board

Our Ideal Candidate

You are positive, encouraging and a leader who inspires. You must be highly flexible and adaptable and can demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills by building collaborative relationships with stakeholders and demonstrate a commitment to service excellence, human rights and zero tolerance.

You will also bring with you:

  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in Direct Support
  • Experience in advocacy and/or mentoring people supported in Human Rights and responsibilities
  • High level written and verbal Communication/presentation skills
  • High level organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously
  • An Australian drivers licence

Successful candidates will be required to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
